Beyond your smile, I wish for nothing else,

But to walk with you thus, side by side,

Foot by foot, along this sun warmed shores,

Hand by hand, on this flower-filled hillside.

To pay the fare every day, on this tour of life,

To ring the bell every day, if it will still ring,

To listen to birds together, as they sing,

At the break of all our days, even in afterlife.

If you want a lover, I am your man,

If you want a partner, here is my hand,

Even if you want to take me for a ride,

Here I am, I am your man.

If you want a doctor,I will examine every inch of you.

If you want fighter, I will step into the ring for you,

If you want a driver, climb inside,

Whatever you want, I will be by your side.

But,

Forget my perfect offering,

There are cracks in me, as it is in everything,

That is how the light gets in,

And that’s how nature has been.

I am also a nut case, as everyone is,

You will quarrel, and I will counter,

I will stress you, and depress,

You will need this, to be anti-fragile.

And yes, you do not need a doctor,

You don’t need a driver,

You don’t need a fighter,

Yes, you don’t need a lover.

So blow out the flame,

That I had fanned in you.

If I ever loved you,

It’s a crying shame.
