He has previously worked as an electrical engineer at engineering consulting firms such as Howard Humphreys (2015), Edson Engineers(August 2015- March 2018), Apex Engineers (JUNE 2017- February 2020), and he is currently the principal electrical engineer at Brendatt Engineering Services.

He helped create the ‘Electrical Engineering in Kenya” site in 2015, and he is its chief editor and also teaches  AutoCAD and Building Electrical Services at Real World Engineering Institute.

Benard Makaa, PE, is a registered & licensed professional engineer and also works in conjunction with other professional engineers registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya(EBK) and the Institution of Engineers of Kenya(IEK). Eng. Benard Makaa, PE, holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). He is also a registered & licensed Class A1 electrician by Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority(EPRA). Eng. Makaa is the author of the book Electrical  Services for Buildings: A Consultant’s Guide.
