The foolish seller praises goods
Until the buyer longs to flee;
The wiser asks what pain exists
And what the better state might be.
No one buys steel, code, or glass
For love of objects on display;
They purchase time, relief, or status,
Or some desired future day.
A bridge is sold by showing shores,
Not praising concrete by the ton;
First understand the traveller’s need,
Then show how crossing may be done.
