My Favourite Philosophers

1.Benjamin Franklin

Born January 17, 1706, Died April 17, 1790 (aged 84)

Franklin was a leading author, printer, political theorist, politician, freemason, postmaster, scientist, inventor, humorist, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat.

Favourite books about him: Benjamin Franklin,The Autobiography and other writings by signet Classics,Benjamin Franklin: An American Life by Walter Isaacson.

I came across writings by him when in high school( around form two) and I got hooked up like it was a drug. I have tried to emulate him since then.

2. Søren Kierkegaard

Søren Kierkegaard was a Danish philosopher, theologian, poet, social critic and religious author who is widely considered to be the first existentialist philosopher.

3.Seneca the younger(Lucius Annaeus Seneca)

Seneca was a Roman Stoic philosopher, statesman, dramatist, and Satirist.His philosophical writings include a dozen philosophical essays, and one hundred and twenty-four letters dealing with moral issues.

4.Marcus Aurelius

Born 26 April 121 – Died 17 March 180 AD)

Marcus was a Roman emperor from 161 to 180. He was a stoic philosopher and despite the office he occupied, he found time to write Meditations.  Meditations, is a series of personal writings  recording his private notes to himself and ideas on Stoic philosophy.

6. Isaac Newton
